Wrong $$$ Priorities

First, to whoever is reading my blog in China, welcome! Hopefully you are finding at least some entertainment in my words. I’ve recently had readers from all over the world (26 countries in total)….but about 76% of my readership has been from China. I’m guessing the new buzz has to do with my writings about the current state of the US.

That’s actually part of what I want to talk about today. The east wing of the People’s House has been torn down. So much history there. That section of the house was originally dedicated to the first lady by Eleanor Roosevelt. Eleanor is one of my role models. She believed in kindness and standing up for yourself. I understand that the current first lady may not need an office, but that doesn’t mean that future first ladies won’t.

Instead we get a $250 million ball room. Completely unnecessary. That much money could provide food, housing, and support to the citizens of the US. So many people are suffering. Having to decide if they are going to pay their bills or eat. And everything is going up in price. It is less expensive for me to buy a bag of cheap cereal with lots of filler than it is for me to buy the ingredients for a salad.

This hard truth was shown to me the other day. A woman approached me in the parking lot and asked if I could buy her some milk and cereal. I will always buy people food if I have the money. I didn’t really have the money, but I bought her food anyway. She asked for cereal and milk because it was affordable and easy. I bought her other foods as well because I just couldn’t stand to see her suffering. This is what we have come to. More homeless people than ever (she is living out of her car), more starving people, people who can’t afford healthcare so they don’t go to the doctor. This is not the life that our forefathers wanted for us (of course they saw an all white America and that isn’t what I see).

Anyone who has been following along will know that the past couple of years have been especially hard for me. Honestly, the time between this April and now has probably been the worst of my whole life. After the cancer and the husband, I’m now in quite a bit of debt, with the worst mental health of my life, and living pay check to paycheck. Actually it’s worse than that. My bank will let me go over my balance by $2000…which I constantly am. My friend started a GoFundMe campaign for me, but it didn’t go very far.

The people’s house is getting a $250 million ballroom and all I need is $10,000 to get back on my feet. Imaging how many people that $250 million could help. Maybe instead of a ballroom we should be forgiving student loan debt or providing affordable healthcare or giving students free breakfast and lunch? I’m sure I’m on a government watchlist somewhere. I won’t stop speaking for the people of this country though. Everyone is entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Not just the billionaires and their friends….EVERYONE!

Anyhow, enough for today. I’ll try to watch a good movie to review soon. Blogging is the first thing I’ve wanted to do in a while. Yesterday’s writing session even got me excited about Chinese dramas again. I started a good one on DramaBox. Maybe I should go finish it.

Until next time, please remember to be good to yourself. You are amazing and always more than enough. XO Zuzu
