Silence is Complicity

I would urge you to read my blog post in Movies and Books about Ghosts of the Orphanage. Then you’ll understand what sparked this particular post.

People are not mad enough and sadly, that is by design. The system that those of us in the United States live in is designed to make us exhausted and so focused on meaningless stuff that the things that do matter get past us. This is a carefully designed and thoroughly tested system. Think of events that were in the news years ago where people said “oh that can’t be happening” and then we didn’t do anything and stopped caring about. Eventually it and became something that we didn’t comment on anymore and the next time it happened, we were unfazed…that was done with intention. It was done to desensitize us so that when the real atrocities came out, people wouldn’t pay attention because it wouldn’t seem like anything new.

The Epstein files keep me awake at night. The current US government situation keeps me awake at night. The fact that W The United States has joined forces with Israel in an unconstitutional war that has already resulted in the murder of children Filled with plea I do have with the nightmares. I am angry. I am distraught.

I spend my days wanting to cry and yell. My health is not great. I lack the energy to do things like go out and protest. I sit in meetings at work and wonder how people can think that such mundane things matter when the world is literally on fire and falling apart. It all seems so trivial in comparison to what’s going on outside.

I get it, some people need normalcy so they stick their head in the sand and keep going with what they know. But I feel like that’s what’s gotten us where we are. People need to look up. They need to see what’s going on. They need to listen to the news..no matter how hard it is to hear. Because the happiness that they’re so desperately searching for will never be found in the society we live in. And the system is designed to be that way.

While earning the last 15 credits I needed to take the CPA exam, I took a history course at the local community college. The instructor had us reading out of a history book that talked about how things actually happened in the construction of the United States (no, it was not A Peoples History of the United States by Howard Zinn but that is a very good book). It was in that class that I first learned that the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States were specifically written for white supremacist men who owned land. Black people are called out as being 3/5 of a person. Girsy Nayions people are called savage and not deemed people. Women aren’t were given no voice or rights. And yet they dared to say “all men are created equal.” What they meant to say was all white men who own land are created equal.

Circling back to Jeffrey Epstein, and the current administration of the United States: notice the white supremacist land owning males. It’s the same. People of color are still seeing as inferior as are women. this country is founded on immigrants and immigration, and yet the current administration villainizes immigrants.

The women in the current administration cabinet are women who have been shaped by misogynistic beliefs. If they were to realize their power and band togetherthis administration would be undone. The full set of the Epstein files would be released without redactions. The Department of justice would be doing its job constitutionally. ICE would no longer exist. People of color would not be ripped from their homes and sent to what basically equates to a concentration camp. People of power would not be able to abuse children, sexually and physically with no consequences. People of power would not be able to eat babies with no consequences. People of power would be held accountable for their actions.

If more people would demand change, we could work towards a better United States of America. We could institute term limits. We could make political positions unpaid. We could demand better representation. We could demand accountability for actions. We could be a democratic republic instead of this fascist state that we’re turning into. I posted a while back about the Declaration of Independence in an effort to remind people that when our government no longer works for us, we have the power and obligation to institute a government that does.

I am not by any means recommending treason or violence. I’m simply recommending that we use our voices to remind the government who they work for. I’m recommending that we boycott businesses who promote unfair practices and who support the growing fascism of the government. When we work together, we can make real change. We need to start ignoring all the distractions that are being thrown at us so that we can focus on the real issues.

To the people who can’t see that this country has fallen apart I would urge you to open your eyes. I would urge you to see both sides. I would urge you to ask yourself is this making America great again or is this making rich people richer and poor people poorer? Ask yourself if you are really getting what you thought you were getting when you voted. We don’t have to agree on all of the matters, but we need to agree on is the things are not going the right direction.

When we stop fighting each other and start fighting for what’s right we can lift up this country. We can demand accountability. We can put people in the gobernment who will help us to have a social system that benefits everyone instead of a social system that benefits the wealthy and continues to make everyone else exhausted and sick.

I believe that everyone should fight for what they believe in even if what they believe in isn’t the same as what I believe in, but I believe at the root level we all want the same things: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

As always my friends, please take care of yourselves. Remember that you are amazing and important and always enough. Go out there and be the shining star you are!
